A short article with the most commonly asked questions about entering funerals in Obit
- Obit is a web app that can run on any internet connected device; Desktop, Laptop, Tablet or SmartPhone. The link for Obit is https://app.obit.ie/ (hint - in the URL box just start to type app.obit.ie - you don’t usually need the https:// )
- General - Be careful that the data on Branch and type of funeral is correct before you click ‘Save’.
- Deceased - Write in Title and Religion possible - please spell carefully. Leave the Late Of box blank unless the deceased was known to have lived formerly elsewhere. Use the Notes function anywhere to inform colleagues of important decisions or issues.
- Places - Don’t leave the Places section for the Orders screen without double-checking - the times will be automatically pulled into the functions for printing Envelopes and Scheduling. Service date/time is particularly important - use the navy Use-As button and same times as Cremation or Burial if the service is being held at the same time/venue as the funeral.
- Contacts - Client is mandatory, all others optional.
- Orders - Don’t start until Places are defined (Tip #4). Use funeral templates where possible.
- Invoicing & Payment - stay in Draft/Quotation until everything is clarified.
- Uploads - Profile Photo, other photos, relevant Certs/Documents.
- Make sure you’re able to use the Help area and Knowledge Base - this is separate sign-up but you should only need to do it once.
- Make sure you’re set up to use remote Help - you’ll need a laptop with built-in camera, tablet or a webcam attached to your desktop. Remote sessions should be setup in advice via email, when the session runs the link is https://whereby.com/lytesoft
Obit Displays and Filters - the general screen is sorted by default according to the date the funeral was created. You can sort the display using the sort keys over any columns.
All filters are inclusive, so from Jan 1, 2018 to Dec 31, 2018 includes all funerals created in 2018.The main “Search” box is powerful, it accepts First Name, Last Name or part or all of the reference number. If you are using the default funeral reference numbering scheme and enter, for example “2019” in this box, then all funerals where the reference number contains 2019 will be returned.
