Until December 2020 (up to version 3) we used the Service Date to try and mark the end of the Funeral Director's duties on a particular funeral. Unfortunately, some funerals (such as repatriations) often do not have a service.

Similarly, the number of funerals with no service has increased, so a more reliable method is needed.


To deal with this we introduced the Completion Date. This date acts as a control for what will appear on the dashboard and also what status checks will be available, pre-funeral or post-funeral. When creating a funeral with the wizard you will be asked to estimate when the completion date will be. As you add arrangements to the funeral we will automatically extend this for you so the funeral will always display on the dashboard while there are arrangements to be carried out. You can also update the completion date at any time in the general section.


Who can change the completion date?


Once entered during funeral creation, the completion date can only be changed by an Admin level user.


When should the completion date be changed?


As soon as it's clear that the initial estimate is incorrect, the date should be amended so that the person arranging hearses and limousines has as much time as possible to prepare.
