Items are any stock items that may form part of the Funeral Account.
Note - When Starting to Use Obit
When your client is created a number of Items will have been added from defaults so that you have some default items. Random prices have been included here and we recommend that you start by adjusting or deleting these so that they are correct for your operation.

| Name | What is entered here is what will appear in the drop-down menu when adding this item to any Funeral or Template |
| Category | This will determine which grouping the item will come under and enable funcionality specific to this grouping. |
| Description | A more detailed description of the item, for invoices and other client documents. |
| Summary Description | This field can be used to automate the description of items in the Arrangements grouping. It has special tokens available to generate a description of the item when used in a funeral. [[fromPlace]] [[toPlace]] [[duration]] [[startTime]] [[endTime]] and [[staff]] |
| Price | The items price |
| Nominal/Account Code | Enter the relevant NC if you are exporting your accounts from Obit to an Accounting Package. |
| VAT | Enter the VAT type for use in exporting to an Accounting Package. |
| Default State | When an Item is added to a funeral this is the default state. If the price is fixed it's best to set to 'Verified', but for Disbursements or other items that vary in price we recommend you set it to 'Requires Verification';. |
Hint - Summary Description. The Summary Description should only have content for Arrangements; Transfers from place to place, Reposals, Funerals etc. We recommend that you leave this box blank for all others; Merchandise, Disbursements or Services. The reason is that Obit will preferentially load the content of the Summary Description into any generated document.
