For printing Documents from Obit, we recommend that you observe the options your browser print dialog offers before selecting.
Guide
- When you click the Print icon on the horizontal top menu of the editor, you will see a representation of the document and the controlling printer settings.
Some common settings are explained below
Option | Description |
Destination | Select printer here. If you want to create a document to attach to an email, select the "Save as PDF" option |
Pages | If you have a multi-page document, this option allows you to select which pages to print |
Copies | In case you like to keep a file copy |
Colour | Switch to Black & White if you are printing on headed paper and are not using colour in your text |
Paper Size | Very Important, default for invoices and letters likely to be A4, Envelopes may be DL |
Margins | Recommend you use default unless you are printing envelopes or special docs. Some browsers offer 'intelligent' page breaks. |
Quality | Recommend set to max supported by your printer |
Scale | Recommend leave at 100, can be used to blow up or reduce documents |
Options | Headers & Footers are on as default - Switch off. Set two-sided on if you print on the back. |
Custom Margins
If your browser offers "Custom" margin, this will bring the "Intelligent Page Break" into play, which you can use to move the printed matter up or down, making it easier to place the printed text for Headed Notepaper or Addresses on Envelopes.
This will appear as dotted lines allowing all four margins to be moved.
NB - Some Browsers will "remember" your settings for each Printer and Paper Size that you use. If you switch between printing envelopes and letters, you will need to adjust paper size and margins each time you switch.
Cancel printing ?
The icon controlling the print queue is on the bottom right hand of the screen in Windown 10 - inverted V.
If you wish to cancel a document in the print queue that you have already started you will see a printer icon in when you click here - just click on the printer and look for options to cancel printing
